Hi, I'm Heather Muskauski Miller!

Hi, I’m Heather, a freelance womenswear designer. I help small to mid-sized womenswear brands build fashion collections that feel intentional, commercially relevant, and true to their aesthetic. What does that mean exactly? It looks different for every brand, but the goal is the same: create collections that reflect who you are, efficiently and on time, that keep your customer coming back for more. Apparel design and development is a process and it can be overwhelming at times. I’ll meet you where you are in this process to ensure that your business goals are met with clarity and confidence. With over 20 years experience in the fashion industry, I can help you build a complete collection from design concept to line plan to production-ready tech packs, or provide expert support in one or more areas. Scroll down to see some examples of my work.

Performance Collection
Creative Direction, Design and Development
As Freelance Design Director for Sandy & Sid, I led design and development of a performance-inspired collection, managing the full process from creative concept through tech packs and factory communications. Each delivery met or exceeded sales goals, driving profitability for the client.
RTW Collection
Design and Development
As Freelance Designer for KBL Group, I supported design and development across wovens, knits, and sweaters for major retailer private label accounts. Design presentation work helped to increase sales, while accurate and detailed tech packs reduced sampling needs.
Lifestyle Collection
Merchandising, Design and Development
As Senior Designer at KBL Group, I collaborated on private label design and development of Wynne Layers, an exclusive collection sold across HSN, QVC International, TSC, and Chico's. The collection's continued growth was a primary revenue source for KBL Group during my tenure.
Casual Woven Tops Collection
Merchandising, Design and Development
As a Designer at Krazy Kat Sportswear, I led private label design and development for Dressbarn casual woven tops, from concept through production-ready tech packs. Sales increased 3X under my leadership, significantly contributing to Krazy Kat's growth.
Embroidery/Embellishment
Creative Design, Artwork Packages
Novelty adds a creative touch to a garment giving the customer a reason to buy, while a detailed artwork package helps to avoid costly sample remakes. Embroidery and embellishment layouts include full-sized artwork, color pitch, placement details, and technical specs.
Flat Sketches
Creative Design, Presentation
A well-proportioned flat sketch is an essential tool for creative design, sales presentations, and serves as a visual guideline for manufacturers. My flat sketches, created in Adobe Illustrator, accurately convey each garment's design, fit, and overall aesthetic.
Tech Packs
Technical Design and Specifications
Detailed tech packs communicate precise measurements and instructions, transforming creative concepts into fit-ready samples. Better tech packs mean less sampling, lower costs, and faster time to market for fashion brands.
